Mentors

Nick Watters
Nick is a PhD candidate in the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT, where he studies how the primate brain represents multi-object scenes, predicts motion, and allows for flexible motor control. Previously, he worked as a research engineer at Google DeepMind on visual unsupervised and reinforcement learning.

Zi Li
Zi Li is an Urban Government and Human AI decision making systems researcher currently at MIT. His work focuses on human-centered AI, responsible AI adoption, and how organizations and societies can build the capacity to use AI safely and effectively in real-world settings. He is interested in translating AI governance ideas into practical tools, products, and learning frameworks for builders and communities.
Judges

Wayee Chu
Wayee Chu is a General Partner at Reach Capital focused on early-stage startups in learning, work, and health. She previously co-founded the NewSchools Seed Fund and began her career at Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch. She is also active in education and arts nonprofits and serves on several nonprofit and university boards.

Mark Bercow
Mark Bercow is a technology executive and strategic advisor with experience across software, semiconductors, robotics, and mobile. He has held leadership roles at Bessemer Venture Partners, Palm, Inc., and Intuit, and now advises technology companies on strategy, IP, and corporate development.

Steven Chen
Steven Chen received his Ph.D. from MIT and is also an alumnus of Stanford. He is the President of the USA AI Olympiad. His expertise includes AI, machine learning, mathematics, and economics. He has developed novel AI models and algorithms to address cutting-edge engineering and economic problems.

Hackathon Event Kickoff
The event will be officially kickstarted with an introduction to ALPHAG3N, followed by sponsor shoutouts and a guest speaker series.
Day 2: May 24th

Check-In
Please ensure that all participants register with their teams at the registration desk outside of the Jen-Hsun Huang Engineering Center. A raffle will also be held during this time.
10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Project Presentations
Teams will present their projects to a panel of judges, with 3 minutes to present and 2 minutes for Q&A from the judges. Timing may adjust slightly depending on the number of teams presenting.
Frequently asked questions
Please bring your laptop, chargers, and any other hardware you may need. It’s also recommended to bring snacks, a water bottle, and anything else that helps you stay comfortable, though these will also be provided by staff at various points throughout the event.
There will be a check-in desk directly in front of the Jensen Huang Engineering Center, where you will be greeted by ALPHAG3N staff members. Please check in with your team upon arrival. If you have any questions or issues during check-in, staff members will be available to assist you.
Yes, meals will be provided throughout the event for lunch and dinner. Specific times can be found on the schedule above.
Yes! If indicated you had indicated that you would like to be assigned a team upon registration form, we will contact you prior to the event with your team.
No problem! This hackathon is open to all skill levels. Mentors will be available to help guide you.
No, a problem statement will be provided to all teams immediately following the official hackathon kickoff. All projects must be started after the designated time.
